BRUNSWICK, OH – Super Bowl LIII was held on February 3rd, 2019. The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams faced off to play for the Super Bowl Champion title. The game ended with a win by the Patriots. This would be their sixth consecutive win in a Super Bowl game.

Kickoff for this year’s Super Bowl was at 6:30. The Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta is the stadium that would hold over 80,000 people for this year’s Super Bowl. The brand new facility, finished in 2017, will hold over 80,000 people indoors for special occasions like this. The entire city would be packed with over 1 million people for the Super Bowl festivities. Thankfully, weather was not a factor in this year’s Super Bowl for neither the Patriots nor Rams. The Patriots are tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for six wins at the Super Bowl. The Patriots are in the American Football Conference East division and the Rams are in the National Football Conference West division. This season, the Rams were able to advance to the Super Bowl by beating the New Orleans Saints and the Patriots by beating the Kansas City Chiefs. Many were frustrated at the fact that the Patriots were heading into their sixth Super Bowl in a row. Despite this, fans of the Patriots were still cheering them on. This year’s halftime entertainment was performed by Maroon 5, Travis Scott, and Big Boi, as well as the National Anthem sung by Gladys Knight. The main entertainment was the game though with an ending score came to 13-3 Patriots, a low scoring game with an abundance of defense from the Patriots and almost no offense from anyone. Mr. Justice, Athletic Director for BHS, says:

“It was not the most exciting super bowl to watch as a fan, but [you] still have to respect two teams that worked hard to get there and played hard trying to win a championship.”

The 2019 Super Bowl MVP was Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman. Super Bowl 2019 was watched by 111.3 million people this year with numbers fluctuating every year. Next year’s Super Bowl will be held February 2nd, 2020 in Miami Gardens, Florida at Hard Rock Stadium with hopefully, the same amount of people or even more.
