Between March 5 and 9, the 24 annual dance marathon will be happening. Dance marathon is a full school day that is a surprise for students where you dance in the gym. The event reminds me of homecoming due to the DJ and pizza for everyone. There is a $50 fee to go to dance marathon. If you end up not going to dance marathon, you have to go to your classes all day while knowing everyone else in your class is being exempt from the busy work you are doing for 55 minutes. The money for this is due by February 22.

This year Jaret Malleo is raising money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. If you fill out a dance marathon form that says “Team Jaret”, you will be donating to the charity. Some of the money will go to the LLS and the rest will go to the high school to help pay for expenses for the event.

“I worked with Mrs. Thompson to come up with an idea to get the school involved with helping me raise money for LLS. Mrs. Thompson actually came up with the idea of getting forms that say Team Jaret. She told me I can go class to class and pass them out and for everyone who turns one in she will give me a certain percentage off of how much money they raise to go towards my cause” says Malleo.

Going to dance marathon is a way to give back to the community. If the money is going straight to VOFT or to Jaret’s Team, you still are donating to good causes. We hope to see everyone in attendance of dance marathon! The money is going to a great cause and the event is actually fun. Get your $50 deposit in by February 22!
