BRUNSWICK, OH- The 45th Annual March for Life took place in Washington D.C. on January 19th. The march takes place every year near the anniversary of Roe v Wade to “testify to the beauty of life and the dignity of each human person,” according to marchforlife.org. This year’s theme was “Love Saves Lives,” and several Brunswick students were willing to trek to D.C. for the life-saving cause.

One of these students was junior Morgan O’Malley. O’Malley attended the march in 2017 as well, and decided that it would be fun to go again. “The march itself is one of my favorite parts,” said O’Malley, “The 8 hour drive there and back is a pain and not so comfortable, but going on the march really opens the eyes of … people about what abortion does to women and the babies.”

Junior Delaney Thompson also attended the march, and has a strong opinion on abortion and the March for Life. “I love meeting the people there and talking with them about what they think and what made them pro-life! I loved [it] last year, so I had to go this year” said Thompson. The two-time marcher also wanted people to know that those who march are not anti-feminists. “… We believe that they have as many rights as any other, but the baby’s life also needs to be considered. They are alive at the point of conception, and no one can take away that life. We know there are many circumstances, but every baby has the right to see sunlight and even just one breath of fresh air,” said Thompson.

The students were in good company as well, with many notable speakers at the march this year. Speakers included Tim Tebow’s mother, Pam Tebow; House Speaker, Paul Ryan; former NFL player, Matt Birk, and his wife, Adrianna Birk; and President Trump by video satellite.

The 2019 March for Life is set to take place on January 18th, according to @March_for_Life on Twitter. Interested in attending the march? For more information on the national march, as well as local marches and events, visit marchforlife.org!
